Status of BODC hosted web sites and web services

New core network infrastructure is planned to be installed at our Liverpool location. A limited web service will provided from our Southampton site. GEBCO and All series data search/request/download and our Vocabulary vocab web services and GEBCO WMS will be available as a minimum. Hosted web sites will be accessible.

Due to improvement work being done in the vicinity of our Liverpool network connections, connection to our Liverpool site may be broken. If this occurs then we will provide a limited service from our Southampton site until network connectivity is able to return to our Liverpool site.

Installation of new Firewall. Work will be undertaken during the normal JANET network ‘at risk’ period, but external access will be lost for 1-2 minutes during the period. A very limited service will be provided from our Southampton site during the outage.

Unfortunately due to a critical issue with a file system we are currently unable to process data requests at this time. The problem has now been escalated externally, however a resolution is not expected until at least tomorrow, 18th May 2017.

As part of making our web sites and services more resilient we have a requirement to test full 'fail-over' from our primary site to our secondary site. During this testing there will be brief outages and access to our web sites and services should be considered at risk during this maintenance window.

Some of our systems have experienced a large degradation in performance that we have been unable to rectify. In order to resolve this we have taken a number of services offline and are bringing them back online in a phased manner in order to identify where the underlying issue is. This currently involves data delivery and web services but all dynamic content may be considered 'at risk'. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience being caused. Resolution is not expected to be completed until at least 10th March 2017.
